Cartesia builds real-time voice AI on state space models rather than transformers. Founded in 2023 by Stanford AI Lab researchers, it sells Sonic (text-to-speech), Ink (speech-to-text) and Line (voice agents) to enterprises including ServiceNow, Cresta and Quora. It has raised $186M, most recently a $100M round led by Kleiner Perkins.
