Anthropic is a San Francisco AI safety company founded in 2021 by former OpenAI researchers led by siblings Dario and Daniela Amodei. It builds the Claude family of large language models, sold directly and through Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure, with its coding agent Claude Code driving much of the recent growth. The company said run-rate revenue crossed $47bn in May 2026, the month it raised $65bn in a Series H at a $965bn post-money valuation that made it the most valuable AI company, ahead of OpenAI. It confidentially submitted a draft registration statement on Form S-1 to the SEC on 1 June 2026. Amazon and Google remain its largest strategic investors.
