Element Science

Element Science is a medical device and digital health company founded by cardiac electrophysiologist Uday Kumar in 2011 and headquartered in San Francisco. Its Jewel Patch Wearable Cardioverter Defibrillator is an adhesive wearable system that monitors patients at risk of sudden cardiac arrest and can deliver defibrillation therapy. The company combines wearable hardware with software, data analysis and patient support services. The FDA approved Jewel in April 2025, and the product is commercially available in limited U.S. markets. Douglas Devine became chief executive in 2026, while Kumar continues as founder and senior advisor. The company also operates in Redwood City, California.
