Mistral AI builds frontier language models and the tooling to run them, selling to enterprises and governments in finance, manufacturing, defence, energy and public administration that want control and ownership rather than a hosted black box. Its model line runs from Mistral Large through Mistral Medium and Small, alongside Mistral OCR and the Voxtral speech models; products include the Le Chat assistant, the Studio agent platform, Forge for training custom models and Vibe, its coding agent. Founded in April 2023 by Arthur Mensch, Guillaume Lample and Timothee Lacroix and based in Paris, it positions itself around open weights and European technological sovereignty.
