Shieldpay is a London payments company founded in 2016 by Peter Janes that provides digital escrow and transaction settlement infrastructure to the legal, financial and professional services industries. Its Hold product safeguards funds until every party confirms the agreed conditions, and it combines payments with customer due diligence and source-of-funds checks for M&A completions, litigation settlements, class actions and managed accounts. Its parent group SPG Technologies, which also operates Paycast, raised a $34 million Series A in December 2021 from investors including Marqeta, Mastercard, CreditEase, Elliott Management and Techstars.
