Substrate

Substrate is building what it describes as America's next-generation semiconductor foundry, with the stated aim of returning the United States to dominance in leading-edge chip fabrication. Its pitch is directed at the economics rather than the physics alone: inventing technology to extend Moore's Law while cutting both the capital cost of leading-edge fabs and the cost per wafer they produce. That framing sets it against the prevailing assumption that advanced fabs must cost tens of billions to build, which is what has concentrated leading-edge capacity in a handful of firms in Asia. The company has disclosed little publicly about its process or facilities.
