Zayo Group

Zayo Group is a Denver-based digital infrastructure provider that builds and operates long-haul and metro fiber networks across North America. It sells dark fiber, wavelengths, private networks, Ethernet, IP transit, dedicated internet access and managed network services to carriers, cloud providers, AI companies, data centers, enterprises, schools and governments. Founded in Boulder, Colorado in 2007 by a team led by Dan Caruso, it grew largely through acquisitions, and on 1 May 2026 completed its purchase of Crown Castle's Fiber Solutions business, which added about 90,000 route miles and 40,000 on-net enterprise locations. Its network spans 224,000 route miles and 32 million fiber miles and connects more than 400 markets. Zayo was taken private in 2020 by a consortium led by Digital Colony (now DigitalBridge) and EQT. Sowmyanarayan Sampath, formerly chief executive of Verizon Consumer, became CEO on 1 September 2026, succeeding Steve Smith, who remains on the board.
