System QA – NAS Product Line (UniFi Drive)
About Ubiquiti At Ubiquiti Inc., we create technology platforms for Businesses, Smart Homes, and Internet Service Providers, driven by our goal to connect everyone, everywhere. To date, Ubiquiti has shipped over 100 million devices worldwide, from ISP networking products to next generation of IT solutions. Our growth is made possible by the dedicated team of hundreds behind the scenes. From software developers and product managers to designers and strategists, Team UI is driven to achieve our common goal: Rethinking IT. At Ubiquiti, you’ll heighten your potential and broaden your horizons - all while shaping the future of connectivity. Key Responsibilities Customer-First Quality Validation Think and test like a real customer – validating how the product behaves in practical usage scenarios, not just whether it meets spec. Simulate real-world usage across different environments, clients, and edge cases to ensure the system meets expectations in performance, reliability, and ease of use. Identify and flag friction points in product workflows, even if they technically work, to advocate for an improved user experience. System-Level QA Ownership Perform full system validation from initial setup, configuration, and protocol testing to firmware upgrade and long-term usage simulation. Own both manual and semi-automated testing processes with a strong focus on integration, data consistency, and robustness across releases. Validate UI/UX flow intuitiveness and ensure management features align with enterprise users' expectations. QA Lab Setup, Maintenance & Continuous Improvement Plan, build, and maintain a dedicated QA lab environment tailored for NAS system testing—including test racks, network configurations (1G/10G), multiple client OS setups, UPS and power fault simulations, and various drive types. Set up and manage test inventory including hardware units (e.g., UNAS Pro variants), disks (HDD/SSD), cables, and switches to simulate real-world deployment scenarios. Develop repeatable workflows for system setup, teardown, and reconfiguration to support different testing needs and maintain test environment consistency. Monitor and improve the lab setup to support new product features, scale testing as coverage increases, and incorporate feedback from previous test cycles. Establish procedures for long-duration soak tests, disk failure simulation, network disruption tests, and automated health monitoring where feasible. Collaborate with hardware and infrastructure teams to ensure the lab is aligned with current engineering roadmaps and mirrors production-like conditions. Continuously assess the effectiveness of the lab setup in catching real issues and evolve the setup to better simulate enterprise customer environments. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with developers, designers, and PMs to define “user-ready” criteria and ensure the product experience aligns with customer expectations. Provide detailed bug reports with reproduction steps, logs, and impact context to prioritize what matters most to users. Actively participate in design and planning discussions, offering QA insights grounded in lab testing and hands-on experience. Continuous Quality Feedback Loop Suggest and drive product and workflow improvements based on test findings and lab observations. Help refine internal QA processes and standards to strengthen alignment with product quality goals. Contribute to documentation or internal tools that help the broader team understand quality gaps or technical constraints. Qualifications Required: Experience in QA or system-level testing, ideally with hardware-based products such as NAS, networking, or embedded systems. Strong user empathy and ability to identify practical issues affecting real-world usability. Hands-on experience setting up and maintaining hardware QA environments. Solid understanding of system behavior, client-server interactions, and network/storage fundamentals. Organized, proactive, and clear communi
