Intermediate Full-Stack Engineer (FE Leaning)
About Auror At Auror, we’re empowering the retail industry to tackle theft and Organised Retail Crime, a $150 Billion problem globally. It’s high volume crime that’s increasingly organised in nature and is putting people, retailers, and communities at risk every day. Founded in New Zealand 13 years ago, we’re working with some of the best and largest retailers in the world across the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. Auror is connecting people and intelligence to reduce crime. We’re using technology for good. In partnership with our leading retail partners, we need people with the passion, determination, and innovation required to overcome one of the world's largest problems. If you’re looking to make a difference with and for the people dedicated to stopping crime, for good, then we want you on our team. We're also embracing the potential of AI to supercharge our impact—whether that's enhancing the way we detect trends, support our customers, or improve internal workflows. As a company, we're committed to responsibly incorporating AI into how we work and what we build, and we encourage all Aurors to be curious about how AI can elevate their work, regardless of role or function. The Role As an Intermediate Software Engineer, in Risk Detection, you’ll work on one of Auror’s most strategically important product areas, helping build the experiences that enable retailers to understand and respond to crime in real time. You’ll contribute to capabilities across Auror Subject Recognition (ASR) and our broader Risk Detection platform, working on products where information needs to move from cameras and detection systems through to clear, actionable experiences for customers. This is a frontend-leaning role, but not a frontend-only role. You’ll spend much of your time working with React and TypeScript, building thoughtful, high-quality customer experiences. You’ll also have opportunities to work across APIs, services, data flows, and our C#/.NET backend as you develop your full-stack engineering skills. You’ll work closely with other engineers, Product, Design, and QE to understand customer problems, contribute to technical solutions, and ship software that is reliable, intuitive, and maintainable. You won’t be expected to have all the answers. You’ll be part of an experienced engineering team where you can take increasing ownership, learn from others, and develop your technical judgement while making a meaningful contribution to Auror’s mission. Success in this role means consistently delivering high-quality product improvements, taking ownership of increasingly complex engineering problems, contributing positively to the way the team builds software, and continuing to grow your technical capability.
