Supervisor Geo role The Supervisor Geo is the field geology leader responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all geotechnical and geological data collection activities for a defined exploration program on FDR concessions in Suriname. Reporting to the Chief Geologist, the role leads a team of Geo Technicians and Surface Exploration Technicians, ensures geological data quality and program objectives are met, and acts as the primary technical interface between the field geology team and Exploration Management. The Supervisor Geo is critical to the integrity and velocity of FDR's exploration database. Key Responsibilities Plan and coordinate daily geotechnical and geological fieldwork activities aligned with the exploration program objectives. Allocate Geo Technicians and Surface Exploration Technicians to drilling and field program. Define and communicate daily targets for core logging, sampling, and surface work. Coordinate with the Drill Supervisor for drilling priorities and collar positions. Directly supervise Geo Technicians, Technicians Surface Exploration, Core Cutters, and field support roles. Conduct on-the-job training and technical skills development. Assess individual performance and provide constructive feedback. Foster a data quality-first and safety culture within the team. Review and validate geological and geotechnical logs, structural data, and field survey results before database entry. Monitor QAQC compliance for all sample batches. Identify and resolve data anomalies or non-conformities. Ensure the completeness and accuracy of DBeaver and Rogue App entries across all active program. Prepare daily and weekly exploration progress reports for the Project Geologist. Oversee core shed organization and core box inventory management. Coordinate consumables supply for geological field activities with the Warehouse team. Ensure field vehicles and equipment are maintained and fit for purpose. Act as the geology team's field HSE leader. Lead toolbox meetings and enforce HSE compliance across the team. Manage geological field incidents and near-miss reporting. Ensure environmental compliance during surface exploration and drilling activities. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, Mining, or a related field. Postgraduate training or specialization in geotechnics, structural geology, or exploration geology is an advantage. Formal HSE supervisor certification required. Minimum 5–7 years of experience in mining exploration geology, including at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or lead technical role. Demonstrated experience managing geotechnical data collection program in a diamond core drilling context. Experience on orogenic gold exploration projects or in tropical/remote environments is preferred. Advanced knowledge of drill core geotechnical logging (RQD, TCR, SCR, structural measurements), geological mapping, QAQC sample management, and geological database management (DBeaver, Rogue App, or equivalent). Strong understanding of diamond drilling procedures and core recovery optimization. Experience with geochemical and surface exploration program design. Valid driver's license and ATV permit. HSE supervisor certification required. First aid certification required. Field safety certifications as applicable. Proficiency in English required for technical reporting to exploration management. Dutch and/or Sranan Tongo are assets for effective field team communication. Ability to produce concise technical progress reports, lead team briefings, and communicate geological findings clearly to management. Working Conditions Camp-based in remote exploration locations in Suriname; rotational field schedule (typically 4–6 weeks in the field followed by a rotation break). Work is conducted outdoors in a tropical environment: exposure to heat, humidity, rain, mud, insects, uneven terrain, and dense vegetation. Physical demands include extended walking, manual core handling, and work in and around drill sites, core sheds, and field sampling areas. Travel to and from remote sites by road, river, and/or air as required. Supervisor Geo rol De Supervisor Geo is de leidinggevende geoloog in het veld en verantwoordelijk voor het plannen, coördineren en superviseren van alle geotechnische en geologische dataverzamelingsactiviteiten binnen een afgebakend exploratieprogramma op de concessies van FDR in Suriname. In deze functie, rapporterend aan de Chief Geologist, geef je leiding aan een team van Geo Technicians en Surface Exploration Technicians, waarborg je de kwaliteit van geologische data en zorg je dat de doelstellingen van het programma worden behaald. Daarnaast fungeer je als het belangrijkste technische aanspreekpunt tussen het veldteam en het Exploration Management. De Supervisor Geo speelt een cruciale rol in het waarborgen van zowel de betrouwbaarheid als de voortgang van de exploratiedatabase van FDR. Belangrijkste Verantwoordelijkheden Plannen en coördineren van dagelijkse geotechnische en geologische veldactiviteiten in lijn met de doelstellingen van het exploratieprogramma. Geo Technicians en Surface Exploration Technicians toewijzen aan drilling- en veldprogramma’s. Dagelijkse doelstellingen bepalen en communiceren voor core logging, bemonstering en veldwerk. Afstemmen met de Drill Supervisor over boorprioriteiten en collarlocaties. Direct leidinggeven aan Geo Technicians, Technicians Surface Exploration, Core Cutters en ondersteunende veldfuncties. Verzorgen van on-the-job training en technische ontwikkeling. Individuele prestaties beoordelen en constructieve feedback geven. Een cultuur bevorderen waarin datakwaliteit en veiligheid centraal staan. Geologische en geotechnische logs, structurele gegevens en resultaten van veldonderzoeken beoordelen en valideren vóór invoer in de database. Toezien op naleving van QAQC-procedures voor alle samplebatches. Afwijkingen en non-conformiteiten identificeren en oplossen. Zorgen voor volledige en nauwkeurige registratie in DBeaver en Rogue App voor alle actieve programma’s. Dagelijkse en wekelijkse voortgangsrapportages voorbereiden voor de Project Geologist. Toezicht houden op de organisatie van de core shed en het beheer van de core box-voorraad. De aanvoer van verbruiksmaterialen voor geologische veldactiviteiten coördineren met het Warehouse-team. Waarborgen dat veldvoertuigen en apparatuur goed onderhouden en operationeel inzetbaar zijn. Optreden als HSE-verantwoordelijke voor het geologieteam in het veld. Toolbox meetings leiden en toezien op naleving van HSE-voorschriften binnen het team. Geologische veldincidenten en bijna-incidenten beheren en rapporteren. Toezien op naleving van milieueisen tijdens oppervlakte-exploratie en drillingactiviteiten. Kwalificaties en Ervaring Bachelor in geologie, aardwetenschappen, mijnbouw of een verwant vakgebied. Postacademische training of specialisatie in geotechniek, structurele geologie of exploratiegeologie is een pluspunt. Formele HSE Supervisor-certificering is vereist. Minimaal 5–7 jaar ervaring binnen mining exploration, waarvan ten minste 2–3 jaar in een leidinggevende of technisch coördinerende functie. Aantoonbare ervaring met het aansturen van programma’s voor geotechnische dataverzameling binnen een diamond core drilling-omgeving. Ervaring met orogenic gold-projecten of werkzaamheden in tropische en afgelegen gebieden is een pluspunt. Uitgebreide kennis van geotechnische drill core logging (RQD, TCR, SCR en structurele metingen), geologische kartering, QAQC-samplebeheer en geologische databases (DBeaver, Rogue App of vergelijkbaar). Grondig inzicht in diamond drilling-procedures en optimalisatie van core recovery. Ervaring met het opzetten en uitvoeren van geochemische en surface exploration-programma’s. Geldig rijbewijs en ATV-permit. HSE Supervisor-certificering is vereist. EHBO-certificaat is vereist. Aanvullende veiligheidsopleidingen voor veldwerk zijn een pluspunt, waar van toepassing. Goede beheersing van het Engels is vereist voor technische rapportages aan het Exploration Management. Nederlands en/of Sranan Tongo zijn een pluspunt voor effectieve communicatie met veldteams. In staat om beknopte technische voortgangsrapportages op te stellen, teambriefings te leiden en geologische bevindingen helder te communiceren aan het management. Werkomstandigheden Functie op kampbasis op afgelegen exploratielocaties in Suriname, met een roterend werkschema (doorgaans 4–6 weken in het veld, gevolgd door een rotatiepauze). Werkzaamheden worden buiten uitgevoerd in een tropische omgeving, met blootstelling aan warmte, luchtvochtigheid, regen, modder, insecten, ongelijk terrein en dichte vegetatie. De functie is fysiek veeleisend en omvat onder andere langdurig lopen, handmatig hanteren van materiaal en werkzaamheden in en rondom drill sites, core sheds en veldlocaties voor bemonstering. Reizen van en naar afgelegen locaties kan plaatsvinden per weg, rivier en/of lucht, afhankelijk van operationele behoeften. Het dragen van volledige PPE (hard hat, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, high-vis vest en handschoenen) is te allen tijde verplicht binnen actieve werkzones.
