Talent Community Lead, Engineering
ABOUT US At Rox https://rox.com/, we believe in empowering people to do their best work. Our platform supercharges sellers with autonomous revenue agents to do the manual work so they can focus on what they do best: selling. Just as coding agents 10x’d engineering, revenue agents 10x customer work. We are reimagining the revenue stack by building the world’s first revenue operating system, from the application layer to the system of context. With Rox, humans are evolving to orchestrators while agents manage the end-to-end customer lifecycle. Rox powers Global 2000 leaders in banking, hardware, construction, and sovereign AI, while serving dominant AI winners like Ramp and Cognition. Underlying all of this success is an unwavering, shared belief in the mission, with an unreasonable commitment of doing whatever it takes to make it a reality. THE TEAM Nothing is possible without the world-class team, assembled to redefine how businesses operate. Members on our team have: - Founded and exited successful companies - Held the highest positions at Google, AWS, Confluent, and New Relic - Won IMO and IOI gold medals - Published field-defining papers We’re backed by the best, including Sequoia, General Catalyst, Google Ventures, Elad Gil, and Chris Ré. CORE PRINCIPLES TASTE: CRAFT BEAUTIFUL EXPERIENCES. No matter how small, we strive to make sure every detail is right. We care deeply about every interaction, both in terms of whether it helps the seller get the job done, but also how the product makes them feel. We get a visceral feeling when something is off and stop at nothing to make sure we make it right. We never settle, continuously exploring ways to delight sellers. OBSESSION: COMMIT UNREASONABLY. In all aspects of our craft, we commit. We not only are immediately reactive to customers’ requests but are proactive about driving value even before they ask. We are also obsessive about always learning and honing our craft, improving ourselves and product every single day. ACTION: GET IT DONE. Talking is easy but the difference comes from the execution. We lean heavily towards making thoughtful yet fast decisions and delivering immediately. We play in a field where trust is paramount. We earn the trust and right to empower the best sellers by forging a history of over-delivering on the promise at record speed. YOUR ROLE As Talent Community Lead, Engineering, you'll build the SF builder community around Rox: the hack nights, demo nights, builder dinners and AI engineer meetups where the best engineers in the city spend their evenings. Great engineers don't find their next company on a job board. They find it at a hack night, a demo night or a dinner where someone they respect is building something hard. You make Rox the team in that room. This is the front door for engineers meeting Rox, and a core part of how we build the team. Talent is P0 here: our CEO has two jobs, customers and talent. You'll work directly with our founders and engineering leads (the IMO, IOI and ICPC medalists and researchers who built the product). They are your speakers, judges, demoers and cohosts. You'll report to Erin Wilson, our Head of Talent. You get a real budget and the mandate to spend it: venues, food, prizes and sponsorships. Your pay follows outcomes, meaning the engineers who join Rox through the community you build. It's an early seat, so you write the playbook instead of inheriting one. If you already host in SF and engineers show up when you post a Luma, we'd love to talk. RESPONSIBILITIES - Cohost a monthly hack night in SF with Rox engineers on site, real problems to build on, and demos at the end - Launch a recurring Rox demo night where builders show what they shipped - Run a small builder dinner series: a curated room of engineers, one good question, our founders at the table - Host and cohost AI engineer meetups, including the Codex and Claude Code meetup scene, with lightning talks from Rox engineers - Get Rox into the rooms that matter: SF Tech Week, YC, a16z speedrun, Founders Inc and Cerebral Valley hackathons, as a cohost, judge or demoer - Run series, not one offs. Same night, same format, edition after edition, until the room fills itself - Sponsor where our engineers show up and build. No logo only sponsorships, no sales pitch events - Own the event end to end: the Luma, the invite list, signups, the room, the demos and the recap on X the next day - Know the SF calendar: who hosts what, which series are worth it, and where Rox should be each month - Keep builders close after the event: the next invite, the group chat, the intro to a Rox engineer - Be a recognized face of Rox on stage, at events and online - Share a monthly community recap with the whole company: events, signups, show rate, repeat builders, demos and submissions, and engineers who joined Rox - Use the Rox product every week, so you can talk about it with real conviction WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE - First 30 days: you've been in the rooms, met the hosts, and run your first Rox event with our engineers - First 90 days: a monthly hack night and a builder dinner series are on the calendar, with repeat builders coming back - First six months: engineers who first met Rox at your events are joining the team, and the best hosts in SF want to cohost with us - The goal is a sentence the whole company can say out loud: this person brought 25 great engineers into Rox QUALIFICATIONS - You host in SF today. You've run hackathons, hack nights, demo nights, builder dinners or AI engineer meetups, and engineers come back - Proof of work in public: Luma pages, recaps, signups and submissions, repeat rate, and what got built - A real engineer network. You can name the engineers who would come to a Rox dinner next week, and why - You cohost well. You know the hosts, venues and series in SF, and they'd take your call - Engineering fluency: you can talk with an engineer about what they're building and why it's hard. Builders think you're one of them - Operator first: you'll set up the room, judge the late demos and post the recap the next morning, without being managed through any of it - Taste in rooms: you know when a curated dinner of 20 beats a crowd of 300, and when the big hackathon is the right call - Patience with series: community takes months to compound, and you keep showing up - Strong plus: you were the early community, DevRel or events person at a company right before it broke out - Be located in or willing to relocate to San Francisco, in the office at least three days a week BENEFITS - Competitive pay with considerable equity upside (base salary range: $150,000 to $200,000 USD) - Medical, dental, and vision, including 100% company-paid plans for you and eligible dependents - Company-paid life & AD&D, plus short- and long-term disability - 401(k) with automatic enrollment - Unlimited PTO, plus paid sick leave, company holidays, and bereavement - Up to 20 weeks of paid parental leave at 100% pay (birth, adoption, or foster) - Wellness stipend: $375/quarter - Learning stipend: up to $2,000/year - Internet & cell phone stipend: $25/month - Mental health support, virtual care, and care navigation - Fertility & family-building support, plus backup care membership - Pre-tax commuter benefits (transit & parking) - SF HQ: daily catered breakfast & lunch, meal allowances, and rideshare support when commuting to the office APPLY To apply, please fill out the application form and include links to your proof of work: a Luma or event page for something you hosted, the recap with your numbers (signups, show rate, submissions, repeat builders), and your X. We're looking forward to connecting with you!
